An early frost has arrived this morning 🥶🍂🍁. Knowing yesterday, that frost was on the cards, we did a last minute flower and pumpkin harvest(would’ve been ideal for the pumpkins to have a little more maturing time and also to have flowers for a little longer too) but nature has other plans! Our chrysanthemums are coming on nicely and will hopefully be blooming in time for Mothers Day and there after maybe some ranunculus🤞. But just for now we are out of flowers. Our cool season hardy annuals… These are seeds we start in trays in autumn and then plant out into the beds. These plants will ride out winter in the garden to eventually give us extra early spring blooms. This row has been planted with the following cool season hardy annuals- Strawflower, Sweet William, Larkspur, Scabiosa, Stock and Nigella. During the warmer months we take the cover off our

During the warmer months we take the cover off our grow tunnel to let the rain, air and bugs and bees into the space. We sow a cover crop of Sunflowers, millet and buckwheat to enrich the soil and feed the bees. This all gives the soil a boost for when the covers go back on for winter growing.
